Xanadu: Glitz, Glam and Glory Days

Why is it called Xanadu?

Xanadu is a reference to the poem: A Vision in a Dream: A Fragment, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. In the poem, Xanadu is the name of the Chinese province where the poem’s central character, Kubla Khan, establishes his pleasure garden. Coleridge describes the decadence of Xanadu in the poem’s first stanza:

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.

With a name inspired by a vision of such beauty, it is hardly surprising that the resort attracts the world’s most discerning holiday goers and investors.
